Sunscreen Film
School Presents Acting for the Screen and Film Making Fundamentals
Lights….camera…ACTING!
The Sunscreen Film School, education wing of the Sunscreen
Film Festival, is proud to introduce a brand new course for screen actors this
winter/spring.
In addition to the new acting class, Sunscreen will once
again offer its very successful Fundamentals of Film Making course for aspiring
film-makers.
Automatic entrance into one of MovieMaker Magazine's 25
“coolest film festivals”
Both courses will produce cinematic works that will be
presented to the public at a special sesson during the 2010 Sunscreen Film
Festival in St. Petersburg April 14-18. The fundamentals class will have films
that are completely original works from concept to screen and the acting class
will have a multi-camera, acting piece
shot like a scene from a movie and edited professionally. They will be
able to showcase their talent for the Hollywood producers who will be in
attendance. This special "home grown" presentation has become a big
crowd pleaser.
"We are delighted to add this new course for
actors," said Tony Armer, Executive Director of the Festival. "We
have a strong commitment to education at Sunscreen and this will make our
mission richer."
For Actors
“Acting for the screen has a similar internal process to
theatre, but the delivery method is quantifiably different and we will work on
both processes in depth." said Dave DeBorde, the course's instructor.
Accomplishing that will require four all-day immersion
sessions beginning in January. Students will learn to improvise as well as work
from scripts. All the while video cameras will whirr away, producing tape that
show progress and areas of concern. In the end, each actor will star in a video
filmed in high-definition which they can use as part of their resume. The video
will also be shown at the Festival.
The schedule for actors is:
January 30th
Feb 20th
March 14th
April 10th
April 14-18 Sunscreen Film Festival - One evening we screen
both the films and the scenes from the final screen acting class.
The classes meet all day.
The cost is $250.00 and includes a Sunscreen Film Festival
Membership. Also included is a VIP Pass for the Sunscreen
Film Festival. For more information and

For Film Makers
In this popular course, students learn the basics required
to shoot and produce a short film. During the course, the students will
actually produce films from scripts created in the class. The course is
designed to accommodate a complete span of film makers from veterans looking to
re-sharpen their own skills to novices who’ve never held a camera. The class
always produces surprising results both in the class films and in the lessons,
experiences and relationships that the students keep with them.
